About Lucy

I’m an artist based in Holt, Norfolk, creating acrylic ink paintings inspired by wildlife of Norfolk and beyond. My work blends fine detail with expressive colour, capturing movement, atmosphere, and a sense of fun.
My artistic approach
I work with pencil, drawing pens, and acrylic inks on watercolour paper. Inks allow me to build vibrant layers while keeping the brightness and energy of each brushstroke. I often leave intentional space in my compositions, giving the sense that the animals have wandered across the paper in their own time.
Background
I studied Scenography (Theatre Design) at Bretton Hall and spent the early part of my career as a scenic painter and prop maker. This work took me across the UK and internationally, creating environments for museums, visitor attractions, theatre, murals, and film. Those experiences continue to influence the scale, texture, and storytelling in my paintings today.
Art Therapy
Alongside my studio practice, I’m a qualified Art Therapist with a Masters in Art Psychotherapy Practice from Leeds Beckett University. I’m registered with the HCPC and a full member of BAAT. Over the past eleven years, I’ve worked with adults, children, and families across residential settings, mental health services, CAMHS, and schools.
Life in Norfolk
I love the outdoors, nature, and the sea. When I’m not painting, you’ll often find me fossil hunting on the beach with my family and our rescue dog, Martha — always gathering ideas for the next piece.
